Jiufen Scenery and its most visited Minsu | Jiufen Minsu

From the beginning of the 1990s, Jiufen experienced a tourist boom that has shaped the town into an attraction easily accessible from Taipei City as a nice day trip (around 2 hours away roundtrip by public transit). Today, the town is filled with both retro Chinese and Japanese style cafés, tea houses, and souvenir shops, as well as fantastic views of the ocean.

The majority of attractions are concentrated along the cobblestone steps of Shuqi Road (豎崎路) between Jiufen Elementary School and the Jiufen police precinct. The three roads running perpendicular to Shuqi Road (Jishan St., Qiche Rd., and Qingbian Rd.) each boast a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and cafés.

Besides the main roads, there are numerous small alleys and lanes that snake around the area and sometimes even run beneath buildings.

While most visitors come to Jiufen as part of a day trip, many enjoy staying overnight at one of Jiufen’s many boutique hotels and B&Bs. How to get to Jiufen Bus Stop

To get to Jiufen from Taipei is probably via a train to Ruifang (瑞芳) station and then followed by bus (either bus #1062 or #1042). In fact, any buses that have destination Jiufen or Jinguashi (金瓜石) will bring you to Jiufen.

Taking train rides in Taiwan are generally rather smooth and comfortable. Seats are usually allocated based on cabin and seat number, please make sure you wait at the platform nearest to your cabin. Look out for your train code from TV screen at the station platform as there won’t be any train conductor  to call out for the passengers. When your train arrives, let the passengers alight first and then board it immediately.  The train will leave on the dot.

Once you are out of the station, cross the road and the bus stop is in front of the shops. The bus journey is about 20 minutes up the mountain road and if you have motion sickness, you may want to get ready the necessities such as sour plums. The ride was very comfortable to me though and by the way, you can use the EasyCard for the bus fare.

Knowing where to alight at Jiufen may be a little tricky as the bus stop is just after a bend. The good news is that there are usually a lot of people alighting at this stop and if you are unsure, you can always request the bus driver to notify you when you reach Jiufen.

Jiufen Rita’s House | Jiufen Minsu

Offering guestrooms with free Wi-Fi, Jiufen Rita’s House features a terrace in its attic and serves a daily breakfast. The homestay is a 5-minute walk from Jiufen Old Street. Jiufen Rita’s House is a 10-minute drive to Jiufen Golden Waterfall, Jiufen Gold Mine Museum and Ruifang Train Station. It takes 15 minutes by car to reach Houtong Train Station. Taipei Songshan Airport is a 50-minute drive away.

Jiufen Hui Ming Homestay | Jiufen Minsu

Jiufen Hui Ming Homestay is located in Chiufen, a 4-minute walk from Jiufen shopping street. Free Wi-Fi access is available in all areas. Jiufen Hui Ming Homestay is an 8-minute drive from Ruifang Train Station and an 8-minute drive from Gold Museum. There are several convenient stores within a 3-minute walk of the homestay.

Long Men Ke Zhan | Jiufen Minsu

Long Men Ke Zhan is ideally located only a 3-minute walk from Jiufen Shopping Street and 10-minute walk from Keeung Long Distance Bus Stop. It provides tour arrangement and free shuttle from Ruifang Train Station to Long Men Ke Zhan. It takes about 10 minutes by bus to Gold Museum. Long Men Ke Zhan is a 20-minute drive from Reuifang Train Station, 45-minute drive from Yehliu Geopark, 50-minute drive from Hot Spring and 1.2-hour car journey to Taoyuan International Airport.

Liu House Jiufen | Jiufen Minsu

Liu House is located in Chiufen. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a TV, air conditioning and cable channels. There is also an electric kettle. Featuring a bath or shower, private bathroom also comes with a hairdryer and free toiletries. At Liu House you will find a garden and a terrace.
